OpenDialog Welcomes a New Head of Conversation Design – Inge De Bleecker

We are delighted to announce the addition of Inge De Bleecker to the OpenDialog team as Head of Conversation Design.

Most recently, Inge held the position of VP of Customer Experience at Applause, where she led the UX Research and Accessibility practices and was a founding member of the Conversational AI practice.

She brings with her a wealth of experience in Conversational AI and User Experience, along with a formal background in computational linguistics.

Inge’s focus at OpenDialog is on building out the conversation design practice and enabling OpenDialog partners and clients to deliver engaging and successful conversational experiences through the power of the OpenDialog Platform.

Commenting on joining OpenDialog, Inge said:

“Conversational AI and language technology have advanced greatly in recent years, and interest in conversational experiences continues to grow. What we need is a means to build conversations that feel natural; we want to allow users to switch topics, go back in the conversation and ask peripheral questions, just like they would in a human-to-human conversation. The OpenDialog Platform enables conversation designers to build out this flexibility in a no-code environment. And the OpenDialog team has a history of focusing on the user’s experience and its importance in creating chatbots and voice assistants that people will use and love. I am very much looking forward to being a part of the OpenDialog team and collaborating with OpenDialog partners and clients.”

Dr. Ronald Ashri, Co-founder and CPTO at OpenDialog commented:

“We are genuinely excited to have Inge join us. To continue to deliver on our mission of providing the best possible platform for creating great conversational experiences we need people that deeply understand the space and the challenges that conversation designers actually have. We couldn’t hope for a more experienced professional (and wonderful human being) than Inge to help us further shape that understanding. Inge also represents our first hire in the US, a precursor to OpenDialog expanding beyond the UK and Europe.”

The true challenge Conversational AI has. Thinking beyond natural language understanding

The Conversational AI challenge is typically framed as a natural language understanding (NLU) through machine learning (ML) type of problem. Is that, however, all there is to it? At OpenDialog we think that there is a broader viewpoint that subsumes the NLU challenge and provides us with more tools to build effective Conversational AI applications.
